Fall is the season for fun holidays, hayrides, and the dreaded resurgence of the cold and flu. But unfortunately, as difficult as it is to stay safe from illness this time of year, it can be even harder for people with Invisalign<\/a>. That\u2019s because when you wear aligners, you\u2019re constantly putting your hands in your mouth, which is an easy way to introduce a whole bunch of nasty germs into your body. So, how do you stay safe from the increase in bugs this season? Here are some useful tips for staying healthy with Invisalign!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Keep it Clean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the best and easiest ways to stop the spread of germs is by washing your hands frequently, especially during cold and flu season, and even more so if you wear Invisalign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, be sure to rinse your aligners well when you remove them, and always store them in their case or in a glass of aligner soak. Never let them contact a countertop, table, or sink, especially if you remove them outside of your home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, don\u2019t forget to keep your teeth and gums clean, too. Brush them each time you eat or drink anything but water, and floss them every time you eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s because drinking water can help flush out your system and keep your mouth moisturized, so you don\u2019t get dry mouth, which can increase your risk of cavities and gum disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, be aware that certain medications can increase dry mouth, and so can mouth breathing due to nasal congestion, so keep that Stanley full of water on stand-by!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do get sick, be careful with your medicine. Many cold syrups are full of sugar, which can stick to your teeth and aligners, so be sure to remove them to take liquid medication or cough drops and be sure to brush your teeth before you put them back in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
